Infoseal
Custom InfoSeal products offer an impressive
range of document features. We pride ourselves on designing
products to meet your specific application needs. Features
include numerous sizes, papers, ink colors, patches, die cuts,
and value-added features such as ID cards, labels, and decals.
Custom products are available in quantities exceeding 25,000
documents per order and multi-lot combination orders also
qualify. That means you have a variety of ways to economize
while maximizing the utility of the document.
Introduction
When designing an InfoSeal form, there are four potential
adhesive applications to consider. They are:
Vertical Adhesive Lines
- Adhesive Tabs
- Window Adhesives
- Envelope Patch Adhesives
Type of Adhesive
All InfoSeal forms are produced with heat resistant, re-moistenable
adhesive.
Adhesive Thickness

The specifications for adhesive
thickness are as follows: |

Vertical
Adhesive Lines
Standard Specification
InfoSeal side-sealing adhesive lines are standardized at 3/16"
wide. They are centered in the InfoSeal 3/8" margins.
Exceptions or Alternatives
There is no need to make the margins wider unless the clients
usage or after handling of the InfoSeal form requires it to
be less than 7-3/4" in width after the InfoSeal margins
are removed.
InfoSeal margins can be as narrow as ¼" if the
print line or form data areas require the extra width.
Caution
Do not use a ¼" margin unless all other options
have been explored.
A ¼" margin makes the sealed InfoSeal form difficult
to open and adds a degree of difficulty in the manufacturing
process which may result in an upcharge.
General Design Considerations
In order to insure proper sealing, the adhesive line must
adhere to bare paper. Do not print screens or other copy in
the area that will be sealed with the adhesive line and glue
tabs.
One Part, Two-Way Adhesives
On One Part, Two-Way constructions, there are two extra vertical
adhesive lines in the lower portion of the form, parallel
to the marginal adhesive lines. The extra vertical adhesive
line ends at the first fold forming the return envelope.
Diagram of One Part, Two-Way Adhesive Lines
The following diagram shows the layout of the adhesive lines
in relation to the edge of the form and perfs.

Manufacturing Note
Use black open cells for applying the vertical adhesive lines
and tabs.
Adhesive Tabs
Standard Specifications
The adhesive tabs are 3/4" x 3/8". The center tab
is centered on the form and the two tabs are on 2" centers
from the center tab. Note: on 11" depth documents with
a 3-1/8" depth check in the bottom panel, the glue tab
dimensions are ¾" x ¼".
Exceptions or Alternatives
The above adhesive tab sizes MUST be adhered to on all new
orders.
Repeat orders that have other than the standard adhesive
tab sizes may be accepted for reorder if there is no indication
on the job ticket that the client has experienced sealing
difficulties. If the client has experienced sealing difficulty,
we will redesign the form at no charge and extend an exact
repeat discount. If the customer/client does not want to change
the form, and the form has given sealing problems, refer the
request to the Manager of Product Development.
Adhesive Tab Registration
The tolerance for adhesive tab registration is + 1/32"
on to the next sheet or 1/16" from top of form.
Caution
It is important to adhere to standard dimensions as the rollers
on the folder/sealer are factory cut to provide clearance
for the wet adhesive.
General Design Considerations
In order to insure proper sealing, the adhesive tabs must
adhere to bare paper. Do not print screens or other copy in
the area that will be sealed with the adhesive tabs.
Manufacturing Note
Use black open cells for applying the adhesive tabs.
Window Adhesives
Standard Specifications
The window adhesive will be a 1/8" wide line centered
on the ¼" of window material that extends around
the die cut. This leaves 1/8" of window material outside
the adhesive pattern.
Note: See the diagram below.
Example of a Window Patch Adhesive Pattern

The above example is a 3" x 1" window. The window
material extends 1/4" around the die cut in all directions.
The adhesive pattern is a 1/8" wide adhesive line positioned
1/16" from the die cut. This leaves 1/16" of window
material outside the adhesive pattern.
Envelope
Patch Adhesives
Standard Specifications
The standard sizes for the envelope patch for an 8-1/2"
x 11" InfoSeal form are 3-3/7" x 7-5/8" and
3-1/2" x 7-5/8". The adhesive pattern is similar
to the window pattern. The adhesive line is 1/8" wide,
positioned 1/16" in from the outside edge of the patch
for the standard 7/8" vertical tear off perfs.
Exceptions or Alternatives
If the paper weight for the patch is 20# or heavier weight
paper, the glue line also extends in at the top approximately
¼" to facilitate manufacturing.
Example of an Adhesive Pattern for a 20#
Return Envelope
The below drawing illustrates how the adhesive pattern for
a 20# return envelope patch extends into the opening by ¼".

Adhesive Used to Keep the Return Envelope
Closed
To insure trouble-free manufacturing and subsequent smooth
feeding in the client's printer, the InfoSeal reply envelope
patch is secured at the opening with three small adhesive
dots located 1/8" from the edge of the patch.
If the InfoSeal form has a window, one of the three dots
will be centered under the window. The adhesive dot size =
3/16" x 3/16".
Minimum Number of Adhesive Dots Required
One concern with envelope patch adhesives is to prevent the
patch from catching in the printer. We have successfully produced
forms with three, two, one and even no adhesive dots holding
the envelope patch closed for processing.
