Introduction
When designing an InfoSeal form, there are three general specifications
relating to perforations to consider. They are:
Types of Perforations & Sizes
The following types of perforations are available with the
designated specifications.
Type

InfoSeal Margin Perf
|
12/030 (This spec is imperative)
|
Yes |
Note: All horizontal perfs will terminate at the vertical
opening stub perfs with the exception of the fold-assist perfs.
Fold-assist perfs are notched 1/8" from edge of form.
Ironing Perforations
Marginal perfs are added and IRONED on press.
Position
Horizontal perforations (such as a check perf ) must
be no closer than 3/8" from fold location and 1/8"
away from window material.
Vertical perforations must be at least 1/8" from window
material and cannot go through adhesive tabs.
Perforation Mark Requirements
One pair of registration marks are required for each perforation.
These marks are placed at the beginning and ending of each
linear perforation. They are 1/16" in length and are
printed at a 30% screen. They are generally repeated on the
glue-side and non-glue side of the form.
Check Perfs
Horizontal check perfs on cut sheet should use micro perfs.
When designing a check application for an 11" InfoSeal
which is C-folded, the optimum check size is 3 inches. This
check dimension permits the three 3/4" x ¾"
adhesive tabs positioned at the opposite end of the document
to completely clear the back of the check when the second
panel is folded and sealed to form the envelope. The adhesive
tabs now adhere to the area above the check and, thus, eliminate
the potential of partially tearing the check when opening.
A 3-1/8" depth check on an 11" depth document will
require glue tab measurements of ¾" x ¼".
Manufacturing Note
Perf flatteners are used on cut sheet jobs.
