When InfoSeal began in June of 2001, we had 10 employees. Brenda Wells was one of those who came from the Transkrit heritage to join us on day 1. Because of the State of Virginia's Executive Orders that were in place, we couldn't have a big retirement party and Brenda was working from home. So, we did have an unique send-off and acknowledgement of her achievement from "afar". Each of the office employees stood at the window with a letter from "Congratulations" and the GM gave her some gifts. We will miss you; enjoy your retirement, Brenda!

May - HP Bulletin

HP released 3 new LaserJet Printers: Models M607, M608, & M609 which have had consistent reported issues of errors. Third party sources have confirmed HP is working on a solution with a firmware upgrade, but the solution is not published to their support team and they do not know any solution so will attempt to blame the printed document/paper. At this time, until a solution path is created by HP (which we understand they are working on), InfoSeal does not recommend running pressure-seal on these printers. Select an alternate machine to avoid this problem.

InfoSeal has developed an exclusive solution for folding & sealing 2-wide forms for high-volume users. Through working with multiple engineers and technicians, we have created a solution that is unparalled in North America. In addition, the unit may be attached to a rotary cutter for greater efficiency and confidentiality. "What we do with pressure seal is truly remarkable; we enjoy creating solutions with both pressure seal forms and equipment. This creativity is what makes InfoSeal the best pressure seal supplier in the U.S." - according to the General Manager, David Yost.

January-Full Service Certified

InfoSeal has passed, ahead of deadline, the USPS new requirement to provide electronic filing of paperwork which will also give postage discounts when available.

December-Installation of a NEW High-speed Pressure Seal Converting Line

InfoSeal is in full production of pressure seal forms using a new high-speed converting line. Equipped to run with a press in-line or as a standalone, the new equipment boasts the highest speed of any pressure seal production line in the U.S. "Once again InfoSeal demonstrates its commitment to higher productivity and higher quality. This line was eight months in the planning and installation. We are pleased to report that it is meeting our expectations at 100% and is fully integrated in our daily production.", says David Harnett, Partner.

November-High-speed In-line Imaging: Fully Operational

Infoseal has expanded and improved its in-line imaging capability with the installation of full width web imaging. The new equipment is capable of imaging at full press speed of 1000/fpm and is configured to be repositioned on multiple manufacturing lines according to production requirements. Further expansion of in-line imaging is planned with eventual double sided, full web in-line imaging of print/mail snap pak products. "Our skill set in in-line imaging was begun with a basic two head ink jet array. That experience allowed us to immediately adopt the benefits of our new full web width imaging equipment... we are running at top press speeds with absolute accuracy. We look forward to further expansion of our in-line imaging capability." David Yost, GM at InfoSeal.

January-Another Successful Year

NJBF and InfoSeal are excited to share that 2012 was another year of significant sales growth. "People ask me all the time how our companies are doing in the printing business. They seem surprised to hear that we are thriving, growing and investing in more capacity. This coming 2013 InfoSeal is adding tremendous capacity along with new products to address what we see as an expanding market in our core products." according to David Harnett, Partner and co-owner of InfoSeal and NJBF.

December-Three's Company

InfoSeal and NJBF are pleased to announce the formation of a new company, Hampshire Label. The third print company operating under the ownership of David and Andrew Harnett was formed from the assets of a former label printing company located in Bedford, New Hampshire. Occupying 18,000 square feet in this location Hampshire Label operates flexo presses in up to 10 colors with UV capability. Offering an array of flexo printed and converted products ranging from standard labels to clean release ID cards to more complex multi layer self adhesive constructions. "We are excited to expand our trade sales in labels and eventually into packaging which are both print markets showing net growth in sales. Hampshire Label has some unique capabilities and also look for us to add digital label and packaging capability in the near future." Andrew Harnett, Partner, Hampshire Label.

March-InfoSeal and NJBF urge resellers to support the independant print manufacturers

There is an independent manufacturer source for any printed product that you may be reselling. As several large publicly held consolidators continue to gobble up trade manufacturers, selecting Independent Manufacturer sources becomes more important than ever. In addition, the large direct forms and print manufacturers continue to market their products to resellers. "I can never understand this decision by resellers….why would they choose a large public company or buy from the large directs? An independent trade manufacturer offers the same product at a better price point with better post sale support. Resellers may be forgetting their own company heritage as they themselves are private and independently owned companies." This opinion was offered by Andy Harnett, Partner at InfoSeal and VP of New Jersey Business Forms.

February-Dispelling Common Myths About using Paper

The printing and paper industries continue to work on dispelling common myths about using paper:

January 31-InfoSeal and NJBF post record year end combined sales for 2012

Says Andrew Harnett of InfoSeal and NJBF, "Its funny when I tell people that my brother and I run a printing company they get kind of quiet and ask 'Hows that going...with the demise of printing and all.' My short response is that there is still a very good opportunity for continued success in the forms industry. Opportunities arising from industry mergers, plant closings, our new capabilities and our increased capacities all combined to make this past year a great success. We are pleased to share that we have broken the $30,000,000 combined sales mark for the second time in our history ."

January-"We Manufacture" Trademark Introduced

weManufacture

InfoSeal and NJBF have introduced their "We Manufacture" trademark. Look for this stylish mark on all of the companies advertisements and marketing materials. Andrew Harnett, VP of NJBF and Partner at InfoSeal offers this, "The print industry does not get the recognition it deserves. We are 100% domestic manufacturers, primarily small businesses and independently owned providing local employment all over the U.S. We don't outsource, relocate factories overseas, assemble foreign manufactured parts or any of the practices that many so called 'Buy American' companies do. Consider this the next time you see a 'Save the trees' greenwash marketing line." Companies that may be interested in incorporating the "We Manufacture" trademark into their own marketing materials should contact Andy Harnett at NJBF.

January-InfoSeal completes replacement/upgrade at plant in Roanoke,VA

InfoSeal has completed a major replacement and upgrade to its Roanoke plant HVAC systems. The work was undertaken to replace aging systems and to provide benefits such as more accurate climate control and reduction of utility costs. "This project involved several months of planning . We are already seeing a significant reduction in energy costs over the first several months of operating the new system. We climate control the production areas to ensure consistent product quality throughout the year. Therefore this new equipment is an example of our commitment to providing the highest quality pressure seal self-mailer products available.", quoting David Yost, General Manager of InfoSeal LLC. 1 2 3 4

October-InfoSeal announces purchase of plant in Roanoke, VA

InfoSeal's owners are pleased to announce that they have closed on the purchase of the company's 110,000 square foot manufacturing plant in Roanoke, VA. The building, which was designed and constructed as a printing facility by the former Transkrit Company, has been InfoSeals location for the past ten years. "It made a lot of sense for my brother and I to become owner/occupants in this current environment of ultra low lending rates and great value in the commercial market in Roanoke. Our building was purpose built for print manufacturing we would be hard pressed to duplicate it without building from scratch. InfoSeal's sales continue to be very strong with 2011 promising to be the best year since we re-started InfoSeal operations over ten years ago."

August-NJBF employs Tony DiLorenzo of the former Cowdin Printing Company

The former Cowdin Printing Company of New Jersey closed its doors in early July. NJBF has acquired the order tickets, negative, digital files and certain manufacturing assets from the company. More importantly, Tony DiLorenzo, formerly in charge of sales and customer service at Cowdin is now employed at NJBF. David Harnett, President of NJBF offers, "We want all the former customers of Cowdin Printing to know that they can easily repeat their orders with us and that we have all the prior art for their former Cowdin printing orders. Its unfortunate that yet another long established web offset printer has gone out. The last five years have seen the demise of many small, regional print shops. But there are opportunities for web offset forms shops that stay focused on controlling costs and improving efficiencies."

February-NJBF and InfoSeal Upgrade Direct to Plate

NJBF and InfoSeal are each pleased to announce the installation of Screen PT-R8600 Eight Up CtP device in the New Jersey and the Virginia plants. David Harnett, President of NJBF had this to say, "For several years now we have been taking advantage of the incredible opportunities in used printing equipment. We have added some unique capabilities at a fraction of the cost of new. These Screen direct to plate systems are the latest example. Our goal is to ensure all new and repeat print orders are 100% digital to plate across our press lines. It is another example of how NJBF and InfoSeal ensure we remain competitive while expanding capabilities to ensure we remain relevant."

August-Pressure Seal Plus website

InfoSeal offers a variety of specialty pressure seal formats which it calls Pressure Seal Plus. These are pressure seal self mailers with interesting features perfect for special requirements, direct mail and promotional mail. Dan Hopkins, Sales Manager for InfoSeal's SouthEastern U.S. region tells us, "we created a separate site to showcase the unique features which we are able to offer within a pressure seal document. We direct our customers to this site to gain a general knowledge then we work closely with the reseller and their end user to tailor a more targeted solution. The site address is http://www.pressuresealplus.com/."

InfoSeal and NJBF exhibiting together in connected booths #611 and #712 at the upcoming Print Solutions expo.

March-InfoSeal expands pressure seal capacity

InfoSeal has upgraded existing pressure seal production capacity in planning for continued growth of sales of this product. "We have completed the last upgrade phase of our second tier converting line for pressure seal products. With these enhancements we are able to do 25% more in the same or less time. We expect this to handle our needs into 2011 and I am not aware of any trade manufacturers with close to the capacity that we now have." according to Richard Harris, Plant Manager of InfoSeal.

September-Pixels or Paper

"It has become a marketing truth (or fallacy) that converting paper documents to electronic format is an essential part of the "green" revolution. However, this truth bears cross examination. A marketing piece published by International Paper raised some serious questions about the green aspect of electronic documents. Its fair to say that the real cost of electronic documents is not being considered. Yes I know...consider the source. A major paper company that has crafted a marketing piece promoting the use of paper. But some facts are irrefutable. Print is dead. Long live print!" Andy Harnett, VP NJBF and Partner InfoSeal LLC.

The PS25 operates at a single speed and features stop and start operation and a resettable counter. It has the unique capability of running inline with a desktop laser printer. This offers the benefit of a higher lever of data security as the imaged form transits directly into the folder sealer with no intermediate handling.

March 10-Print is dead! Long live print!

Its generally accepted that online commerce has its risks. But it's becoming clear that the risks are larger than generally believed and they are growing. The following was recently published industry news. Infoseal thinks it shows a need for the continued use of secure paper based documents such as pressure seal self mailers.

Online crime is booming. Choose paper its safer.

German authorities on Tuesday warned against the "catastrophic" state of security on the Internet, with growing armies of viruses, worms and Trojan horses unleashed by ever savvier criminals. A study presented by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) at the world's biggest high-tech fair, the CeBIT, found that Web crime and sabotage were on a steep climb even as consumers grew smarter about security.

"The situation is serious -- it is even more catastrophic than we feared," BSI division chief Hartmut Isselhorst told reporters.

"We are all being attacked. As soon as we go online we become the target of attacks."

The BSI has measured a marked increase in "spam" mail packed with unsolicited advertising and dangerous viruses.

Hackers can also exploit security breaches on popular web sites, allowing viruses, worms and Trojan horses -- most recently with built-in update functions -- to work their way into the hard drives of unsuspecting users.

Isselhorst said such developments made protecting consumers and businesses a "constant battle", as international criminal networks work together to programme new attack software and launder cash gains from hacking.

A poll by high-tech lobby group BITKOM found that computer users were often shockingly negligent in protecting themselves, with 19 percent saying they had not installed an anti-virus programme and 45 percent doing without firewalls to prevent unauthorised access.

However Internet users in Europe's biggest economy prove relatively skittish when it comes to e-commerce.

More than one in four surfers declined to shop online because of security concerns, and nearly one in five refused to book travel or buy tickets on the web, the survey of 1,002 Germans showed.

Nearly one-third said they had suffered financial losses online either due to viruses or problems with Internet auctions or banking.

At InfoSeal we think a pressure seal mailer is a terrific direct mail format. A pressure seal self mailer automatically incorporates three of the top five industry recognized reasons that consumers open a direct mail piece. For example, nearly everyone has received a pay check, tax notice, jury summons, tax refund check or municipal/government notice of some sort that was designed using a pressure seal self mailer. Consumers relate a pressure seal self mailer to an important document or notice that they should not ignore. InfoSeal can incorporate features which include labels, ID Cards, window die cuts, return envelopes and other features to enhance the appeal of the mailer once it is opened.

Review the list above. Take a look at some of the products on our website. Then decide if its time you called InfoSeal about pressure seal self mailers.

August-InfoSeal's packaging reduction efforts

InfoSeal is offering a greener alternative on its cut sheet pressure seal products. This is a change from its standard 1000 forms per carton over to 2000 forms per carton. This cuts the packaging materials for each order in half resulting in less waste. Additional benefits such as fewer individual cartons for less handling and a 40% reduction in freight costs when shipping via Fedex and UPS also make a strong case for the change. "We realize this may be a big change for some end users but really many of our custom orders already ship at 2000 forms per carton. We expect that some will want to remain at 1000 forms per carton and we will abide by this. But after explaining the benefits we hope customers will agree to make the change. Its not a huge "green" campaign but we do ship a lot of cartons in a year every little bit helps", says Andrew Harnett, Partner of InfoSeal.

InfoCard is the answer for proven performance on affixed form/card applications. InfoCard is created by die cutting and patching a portion of the form and then affixing a clean release laser compatible ID card into the patched area. Its main benefits are nearly perfect lay flat construction. It reduces or eliminates uneven stack height buildup found with nearly all form/card products offered in the market. It provides a smooth face surface with little or no surface height difference between the face of the form and the face of the card. The form and card are available blank for digital imaging or pre-printed in up to eight colors on both the form and the card. InfoCard is available in continuous, rolls, laser cut sheets or within a self-seal mailer. Call InfoSeal for samples!

May 11-New Jersey Business Forms to celebrate 30th anniversary this June

New Jersey Business Forms is proud to celebrate its 30th anniversary this June. In 1977 John Harnett founded the company, becoming President and owner after having started as a pressman's apprentice in 1953. He attributes the long term success of NJBF "to our conservative growth and the foresight to add unique products and capabilities to our product mix." He says, " There are so many local, regional rotary business forms companies out there. Many have folded up or been sold typically due to lack of a succession plan. Typically, the children of owners of business forms companies and regional printing companies are not interested in continuing the business their fathers began. Manufacturing looks to become a lost art in the U.S. Certainly in our Northeast Region where most commercial space is converting from manufacturing to warehousing and distribution. Fortunately, my sons have embraced the business and grown it into an nationally recognized supplier on certain of our unique products.". NJBF and its sister company InfoSeal look forward to continued growth both organically and by acquisition.

May 9-NJBF's Long Snap Sets

For many years New Jersey Business Forms has offered rotary manifold Unit Sets up to 26" long. The product is commonly used for lease and finance agreements that require extensive legal copy on the backside of the form. Other excellent applications for this product are enrollment applications for health insurance and retirement plans and medical sets with file holes. A 26" long snap can be folded, punched, drilled or numbered according to your requirements. According to David Harnett, VP of NJBF, "In lengths of 21 inches and longer our company is one of only a few in the U.S with this capability. Our former competitors in this product, such as one large direct sale company I know of, have scrapped or sold off their equipment and are now coming to us to fill their needs. Our true rotary collator construction is less costly with much better quality than the sheetfed long snap sets we see commercial printers selling." Call NJBF for samples of their Long Snap Set product.

April 28-People Prefer To Receive Messages In An Envelope, Study Finds

Criteria of Trust, Privacy, And Security Are All-Important

ALEXANDRIA,VA – Despite the rise of online communications channels, envelopes are one of the most powerful and effective tools for connecting with people, a new study by the Envelope Manufacturers Association Foundation (EMAF) shows.

Based on the findings of a national survey of 1,800 Americans age 18 or older, the Foundation determined that envelopes consistently enable and enrich a higher quality of communication for the sender and the recipient.

The EMAF's report, “Because It's Personal: A Study of Consumer Use And Preference For Envelopes,” found that the personal touch, tangibility, and privacy afforded by envelopes overwhelmingly drives consumer preference in both transactional communications and direct marketing communications.

For example, although many banks, financial institutions and other service providers are pushing customers toward online transactions, 3 out of 4 Americans, or 78%, prefer to receive bills in an envelope in the mail.

People Pay Attention To Direct Marketing

Within those numbers, the study found that 82% want a hard copy of the bill to keep as a record; 57% said they have a greater trust in bills arriving in an envelope, and more than 40% said they think statements mailed in an envelope are more private and more secure than their electronic counterparts.

When it comes to direct marketing, 75% of Americans say they are most likely to pay attention to direct mail – three times more than unsolicited email, Internet pop-up ads, telemarketing calls, door-to-door marketing, or mobile phone text messages combined.

The study found that Americans respond more positively to direct mail in envelopes than flyers or postcards, with women (45%), and people over the age 34 (44%), registering the strongest approval of direct mail offers in envelopes.

The top types of merchandise Americans say they buy as a result of direct mail solicitations that arrive in an envelope are: books (43%), magazines (42%), clothing (40%), movies/videos/DVD's (29%) and music (25%).

InfoSeal and NJBF feel this is a strong endorsement of the use of self mailer documents both for transactional mail and direct mail documents. “When a pressure seal form arrives in the mailbox its usually perceived as an official document. In the case of Direct Mail this may help the piece get noticed….and opened. InfoSeal has many unique features that can be incorporated in a pressure seal mailer that can really jazz up a direct mail application.” says Andrew Harnett, Partner of InfoSeal. He continues, “I don't know about you but my maibox is awash with standard envelope direct mail pieces. Our Pressure Seal Plus formats are different, create interest and they work.”

The article also offered the following some of which relate to standard transactional mail but have relevance in direct mail as well.

“Why People Prefer Bills In Envelopes To Bills Sent Online”

82% prefer a hard copy to keep as a record

57% have more trust in mailed bills delivered in an envelope

43% believe bills mailed in envelopes are more private

41% believe bills mailed in envelopes are more secure.

Top 10 Reasons People Want To Look Inside An Envelope

  1. To learn the name of the sender and the return address
  2. They already know what the letter concerns
  3. The letter is “addressed to me by name”
  4. To protect or secure the contents
  5. The contents are mysterious to them
  6. The distinctive look stands out
  7. The envelope is marked “urgent”
  8. There is a personalized message on the outside of the envelope

Copies of the executive summary are available by contacting the EMAF, 500 Montgomery St, Suite 550, Alexandria, VA 22314, or by phoning 703-739-2200.

April-InfoSeal Displays new LaserSeal machine at Mailcom Expo

InfoSeal displayed its newest Pressure Seal machine in its booth at the Mailcom Expo in Atlantic City on April 28-30. Attendees of this show are largely users of traditional inserting machines and are processors of very high volumes of mail. InfoSeal staff in its booth found that many of these large volume mailers are still unaware of the tremendous productivity gains that can be made by moving their mail volumes off their slower, more costly inserting machines and over to a less expensive and much faster pressure seal process. Resellers of pressure seal systems would do well to contact InfoSeal and learn how they can go after these opportunities with the help of InfoSeal's turn key pressure seal systems.

January-New Product Launch

Infoseal is doing more for you and pressure seal! InfoSeal and NJBF are pleased to announce exclusive availability of the lowest cost Desktop pressure sealer on the market today. The "LaserSeal" machine by InfoSeal is a pressure seal machine that can run stand-alone or in-line with over 30 different models of desktop laser printers. "The machine has a very small form factor and is being offered at the lowest price of any pressure sealer on the market. We expect to sell quite a lot of these units. The combination of our top quality pressure seal forms and the LaserSeal units compatibility with a large number of popular laser printers make this unit a real winner." Says David Harnett, Owner of InfoSeal, LLC.

In the arena of "in-line" pressure seal machines, the LaserSeal is a vast improvement over previous offerings in the market. For one thing, the unit is compatible with over thirty (30) different models of laser printers. Many of these, such as the HP4000 series and the HP9000 printers are found in thousands of offices nationwide. With the LaserSeal machine all of these laser printers can easily be converted to running pressure seal forms as an in line process. Simply load the pressure seal forms into the laser printer and the forms are printed and fed directly into the LaserSeal unit. Print, fold, seal and mail in record time. Should the laser printer be needed for other non-pressure seal related work simply slide the LaserSeal device away from the printer and resume normal printing. Nothing could be easier or make more sense.

In addition, the LaserSeal unit requires no special glue patterns so form compatibility and availability are greatly increased. Lastly, the design and construction of the LaserSeal machine is top quality. Each contains four solid steel sealing rollers to ensure a top quality, secure seal of the pressure seal form. Many pressure seal machines can fold the form but do they do a good job of securing the seal?

Check out our LaserSeal machine. We think it answers all the needs. Convenience, security and price!!

October-InfoSeal Launches new In Line Pressure Seal System @ Print Solutions Expo

InfoSeal is pleased to announce the addition of the LaserSeal pressure seal machine to its line of pressure seal folder sealers. The LaserSeal can be purchased as a stand alone folder sealer or it can be configured to run in line with one of a dozen different desktop laser printers. This machine is manufactured for InfoSeal by PFE of the United Kingdom and is being offered in the U.S. exclusively by InfoSeal. "The price point on the LaserSeal as a standalone or inline unit is very low. It will really shakeup the competition in terms of price and performance. PFE has a long background in manufacturing pressure seal machines and they know how to make a top quality unit. We looked at the other inline solution, "Print to Mail", currently being offered on the market and it just does not stack up. That machine is compatible with only one older HP model of printer and the sealing section is not well engineered requiring a special glue pattern on a pressure seal form. Our LaserSeal addresses all of these shortcomings. We are really excited to be adding this PFE engineered machine to our lineup." Says Andrew Harnett, Partner of InfoSeal. For more information on the LaserSeal pressure seal machine by InfoSeal click here!
